Thursday, February 7th is also Chinese New Year. Many of our sixth graders will be celebrating the year of their chinese zodiac sign - The Rat! People born under the sign of the rat are known to be expressive and can be talkative sometimes. They like to go to parties and spend quiet times chatting with their friends. Although the Rat can be quiet sometimes, it is rare to catch a Rat sitting quietly. I am sure the 6th grade teachers would agree with this statement!!
Early Release Day:
The next Early Release Day will be on Tuesday, February 12th. Student will leave school at 12:45pm. There are no after-care services on this day.
NO SCHOOL on Presidents' Day - Monday, February 18th!
ING is giving students from all sixteen APS middle schools the opportunity to participate in the 2nd annual ING Marathon & Half-Marathon by sponsoring the "Run for Something Better" program. Students will begin training in February, running one to two miles a week during PE and after school, and will log all the miles they run prior to the race. Students that complete twelve miles before the March 30th race will have the opportunity to run the last 1.1 miles of the half-marathon on race day. All students completing the free program will receive a race medal, T-shirt, and the thrill of having run a half marathon with people from all over the world. Look for more information to come home from Coach Hooley and the Inman Athletic Department.
GOAL for Girls:
GOAL is now recruiting girls for their after school program to begin in late February. GOAL designs and implements its own experiential, research-based programs that address the social, emotional, intellectual, and developmental needs of adolescent girls, helping girls develop the skills to successfully navigate the challenges of adolescence. If you are interested, please contact Ms. Jeanine Rousso, Graduation Coach, at 404-802-3224 or jrousso@atlanta.k12.ga.us.
