From the Teachers regarding the new bathroom policy:

Parents:

It has become necessary to firm up our bathroom policies in order to save precious instructional time. Students have been going without permission in between classes, causing them to be late and lose class time. We have decided to create specified bathroom breaks in the day to alleviate this problem. We will be informing the students of these changes, but wanted to let you know as well.

Students will be permitted to go to the bathroom after connections (before 4th period begins). They have some hallway transition time here. In addition, we will take bathroom breaks as a class during 6th period (teams will stagger the break from 1:45 – 2:00). The students will continue to have a limited number of passes in their agenda if they need to use the bathroom at other times.

Thank you for your understanding with these changes!

6th Grade Enrichment Cluster Program: Got An Interest, Passion, Hobby?
Come Share It With the 6th Grade!

For six weeks this spring, 6th grade students will have an opportunity to explore a topic of interest in depth. Students will work together with other like-minded students and an adult who will guide them. These Enrichment Clusters provide interest-based extensions to our curriculum as well as offer a real life connection to the Georgia Performance Standards, AND offer fun, exciting, and interesting experiences to our Inman Students!! Please consider sharing an area of interest and expertise by being a facilitator for this program. It may be from your world of work or a beloved hobby. If you can't be a facilitator, we also welcome any help you are willing to offer our 6th grade teaching team. Contact Tommy Firesheets (tfiresheets@atlanta.k12.ga.us) by Satutrday, March 8th to learn more.

Have You Been Logging Miles for the Inman Middle School and the ING Marathon/Half-Marathon?
We hope that your training is going well. By now your child should have logged about 4 to 5 miles of running in preparation for the ING ½ Marathon on Sunday, March 30th. Students participating in this FREE program will receive race day transportation to start, a t-shirt, medal and a post-race celebratory meal. Students should be training on their own and also during the P.E. classes at school. On race day, the students will run the last 1.1 miles of the ½ marathon after completing the initial 12 miles on her or his own prior to race day. In Coach Hooley's absence from school, please see Sra. Dickerson (kdlarsen@atlanta.k12.ga.us) for more details. We look forward to jogging with you!

The "Inman Brag Sheet" is being updated for an Inman transition meeting next week. If you know of any accomplishments by Inman students worthy of mention, please email it to Abby Martin at abbymartin30306@yahoo.com as soon as possible. Below are some examples from the 2006-07 Brag Sheet:

Inman 6th grade science students along with science teacher Ms. McRae were featured on the APS web site and the local news for their work with Trees Atlanta. The children planted 15 trees around the Inman campus.

Inman's debate team is the winning-est middle school debate team in APS history.Inman's debate team has taken home the Atlanta Public Schools Sweepstakes Award (# 1 award) for the past two years. During the 2006-2007 debate tournament season, Inman students took home over 110 medals!

Writer's workshop: Local authors visited all Inman students and discussed how they use writing in their work.
